New "Pink Line" Project |
New “Pink Line” Project. Personnel of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) install road right-of-way or boundary markers between private and government property lines along EDSA from Ayala Ave. to Guadalupe in Makati City. Dubbed as the “Pink Line” project, this innovative scheme is aimed to curb the unabated illegal parking of vehicles on pedestrian ways in Metro Manila and illegal construction of structures that tend to impede the movement of pedestrians. The agency intends to complete the installation of pink lines on Roxas Blvd, on to the 24-kilometer stretch of EDSA from Baclaran to Monumento by early next year. The full force of PD1096 or the National Building Code on improper occupancy, location and illegal construction, including prescribed setbacks for commercial, industrial and institutional buildings, will be implemented with violators facing a fine of P1,000.00 or imprisonment of not more than six months. |

MMDA Relocates Mabini Shrine. MMDA workers, with trucks and equipment in tow, dismantle piece by piece the old nipa-roofed Mabini Shrine in Malacañang Park encroaching on a reclaimed portion of Pasig River to be relocated to the PUP compound in Sta. Mesa, Manila. The MMDA’s flood control office has found out that the shrine has been constricting the river flow from 150 meters upstream and narrowing down to 65 meters downstream where it used to stand thereby causing swelling and unnecessary flooding in some parts of Metro Manila. Restoration of the old Mabini house is expected to be completed before the year is over. |

Soldiers
to Help MMDA in Rescue and Clearing Operations.
Chairman Bayani Fernando (right) of the Metropolitan Manila Development

of training of 376 officers and enlisted personnel of the Armed Forces
of the Philippines NCR command who underwent a two-week training on disaster
relief and response operations course conducted by the MMDA. The troops
will assist the agency, local government units and other volunteer groups
in search and rescue operations during earthquakes, fires, flood and terrorism
threats not only in Metro Manila but also all over the country. The AFP
NCR command also pledged to join forces with the MMDA in clearing sidewalks,
roadways and other danger zones of illegal structures and other forms

Faster Transport of Benguet and Baguio Veggies to Metro Manila. Robinsons Galeria Loading
and Unloading Bay. Public utility vehicles now orderly pick-up and
drop off commuters in front of Robinsons Galeria (RG) north bound along
Edsa as the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) in coordination
with the RG’s management jointly put up this loading and unloading
bay to improve the traffic situation in the area. The MMDA provided the
design of the loading/unloading bay while Robinsons financed its construction
which was completed and opened to the public last Holy Week. Fourteen
other such bays will soon be built in various choke points along Edsa.

MMDA Offers Kaminero Jobs to “Ninja” Boys. BARGE
TO HAUL AWAY GARBAGE. A
"Trabaho! Trabaho!" laborer of the MMDA tinkers with one of
the six floating barges procured from Department of Transportation and
Communication to be used in collecting garbage dumped indiscriminately
on creeks and waterways. The MMDA has started massive cleaning operations
on creeks to minimize flooding in Metro Manila when the rainy season comes.
Trabaho workers have been retooled by the agency to undertake carpentry,

Construction
of Footbridge Halted.
A traffic engineering worker of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority

has been stopped. The MMDA, due to public clamor on the spate of road

across the bus door to ward off overstaying buses waiting for long hours
at loading stations during yesterday’s formal launching of the campaign
at EDSA- Cubao Farmers bus station in Quezon City. Fernando said this
excess of buses dawdling and fighting for few passengers is what causes
traffic jams on main thoroughfares and streets of Metro Manila. Errant

Marikina
Metro Gwapo. This is Marikina bridge along A. Bonifacio Ave .today after
new street furniture and road construction improvements were made in line
with the “Metro Gwapo” project of the Metropolitan Manila

Marikina City and four other cities as pilot areas to transform the Metro
